Data Availability and Reproducibility Policy
Aligned with COPE and ICMJE Standards
The Al-Rafidain Dental Journal (RDENTJ) supports transparency, reproducibility, and scientific integrity in research. Authors are encouraged to make their underlying data available whenever possible, in accordance with COPE’s Core Practices, ICMJE recommendations, and FAIR data principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
Data Availability Statement (DAS)
Authors must include a Data Availability Statement in all original research articles, indicating where the data supporting the findings can be accessed or explaining why it cannot be shared.
Examples of acceptable DAS formats:
-
“The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in [repository name] at [DOI or URL].”
-
“All relevant data are included within the article and supplementary files.”
-
“The datasets are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.”
-
“Data cannot be shared due to ethical/privacy constraints.”
Reproducibility Standards
Authors of laboratory or experimental studies should:
-
Provide sufficient detail in the Methods section to allow replication.
-
Disclose protocols, instruments, and materials (or their sources).
-
Specify statistical software and versions used.
-
If applicable, reference pre-registered protocols or analysis plans.
Ethical and Legal Considerations
If data sharing is restricted, authors must:
-
Clearly explain the reason (e.g., patient confidentiality, institutional rules).
-
Confirm that data retention complies with local and international research ethics guidelines.
