Description of the Residences Of the Caliph al – Mutawakel Ala- Allah in al – Buhturi’s Poetry

. ( ) . . . :. .. : . .. . . The present study is concerned with revealing the objective and artistic aspects in al- Buhtris description of the residences of the caliph al-Muta-wakel ala- Allah. The subject is worth investigating since it is characterized by being accurate and precisc description, nice style besides incorporating some of the poets subjectivity when dealing with the subject under consideration. It is worth mentioning that the poet is locally as well as emotionally so closc to the Abbasid Caliph that he lived near him in surra man Raa. Correspondingly,the poet is meximally attached to the caliph, supporting and praising him in his poetry. Such a relationship is manifested in his tendency to describe the Caliphs residences. The poets description of the caliphs residences, their ponds and orchards clearly shows his love and appreciation towards the Caliph and his sons. The poet , as an Arab Bedohin , thought the Abbasid Caliphs were symbols of hononr , dignity and Arab Islamic Unity. In order to follow the poets spontaneons feeling , the study is based on the following pivots : Firstly , al- Buhturis description is not a transitory subject for seeking intimacy and living only, but his delicate and accurate description of the residences in detail shows his sublime taste as well Secondly , the residcnces include al-Jafari , as Sabeeh , al- Maleeh, al- Gharid , an Nahri and al-Mutawakeliyyat. Whenever he descrided these residences and their components , his description was not only a materialistic one hut he also described them by images rich in movements and colours. Morebutover , he tried to include his own subjectivity . His description is Closely and intimately associated with what he described . Further the residences were geographically described in order to reveal the impact of urbanity and culture on the andience . Thirdly , the study is concerned with revealing the artistic features expressed by the poet to convey his spontaneous feeling concerning these residences which were , for him , unfamiliar . The poets linghistic and rhetorical abilites. in dealing with the poetic text to attain the appropriate effcet on the part of the reader are also shown.Finally ,the study ends with a concluslon including the findingsfollowed by a list of references and theses depended on in the study.
